Vocaloid (Hatsune Miku etc), MikuMikuVoice, Vocalis, Vocannaindesu etc are all for Desk Top Music creation- meaning you will make the song file at your desktop, taking time tweaking, and is not suitable for live performances.
AquesTone is a software which enables you to play the music with a midi keyboard and it plays the voice of the vocals. So this is rather meant to be used for live performances.
It is faster to understand by watching the demo video:

Many people started to make research on how to make the Vocaloid sing naturally.
National Institute of Researchers at Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, or Sansouken) created a software called VocaListener that imitates real human's song and presumes the voice parameter automatically. They uploaded several demo videos:

The difficult part of creating songs with Vocaloid such as Hatsune Miku is that you need to adjust a bunch of parameters to make it sound natural.
Creator of MikuMikuDance has created another software called MikuMikuVoice, which enables you to import wav data and export to Vocaloid editor so that you can use all the data and the parameters. You can download the software from here.
This is a good example of how it works- first it plays the original sound, miku sound imported, and both.

VOCALOID was made by YAMAHA, and Crypton made the package softwares such as Hatsune Miku,
Kagamine Rin/Ren, etc.
Then, there was a creator who tried to make a software with similar function, made it available for free online, and uploaded the video of how to use it. This software is called UTAU.

Quote from ARToolkit official website:
ARToolkit is a software library for building Augmented Reality (AR) applications. These are applications that involve the overlay of virtual imagery on the real world. For example, in the image to the right a three-dimensional virtual character appears standing on a real card. It can be seen by the user in the head set display they are wearing. When the user moves the card, the virtual character moves with it and appears attached to the real object.
You can download ARToolKit here:
ARToolKit is used by over 300 researchers worldwide for a very diverse set of projects, which you can see some from the list here:

As I have written in my previous posts, there are LOTS of people creating 3D videos in various ways as well as using MikmuMikuDance.
Here's another one, VOCALOMARK created by a creator called FarSeer.
This 3DCG is created using XSI engine. XSI is a 3DCG animation creation software created by Soft Image. XSI is used in various games and movies such as Idolm@ster that I introduced in this post. You can see that the face of Miku in the video above looks so similar to Idol M@ster videos :)
